About the role.
The AV Trainer / Technician plays a dual role within the organization, combining hands-on Audio-Visual technical work with the responsibility of training and developing future AV Technicians. This position requires strong technical expertise, clear communication skills, and a passion for knowledge sharing and professional development. When not delivering training, the role supports studio operations as an AV Technician. Occasional travel, including assignments lasting several weeks, is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and deliver structured training programs for aspiring AV Technicians, combining theory, hands-on practice, and assessments
Develop, update, and maintain training materials, guides, and technical documentation
Monitor trainee progress, assess performance, and provide constructive feedback to ensure technical competency
Stay up to date with emerging AV and IT technologies and integrate relevant updates into training content and studio operations
Install, configure, and set up AV and IT equipment in studio environments according to Broadcast Engineer plans
Assemble and install professional video cameras, including lenses, monitors, and power supplies
Run, test, troubleshoot, and manage low-voltage video, audio, and network cabling such as SDI, XLR, and Ethernet
Install professional studio lighting fixtures and modifiers in line with lighting plans; basic Chroma Key knowledge is beneficial
Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently, proposing alternative solutions to minimize downtime
Work flexible shifts, including nights, to support continuous studio operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluent in English, with strong proficiency in both written and spoken communication
Proven experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing AV and IT hardware
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to varied audiences
Experience in training, mentoring, or teaching within a technical or AV-related environment
Practical knowledge of multimeters and a basic understanding of AC/DC circuitry
Experience installing and configuring Windows and Linux operating systems
Hands-on experience with professional AV equipment, including control room and studio environments
Solid skills in cable handling, testing, and troubleshooting
Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies
Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and supporting team development
Experience setting up computer peripherals, drivers, and basic video and audio equipment such as cameras, microphones, and mixers.
